We recommend most athletes take the jump to a Quantum 6 pole or higher level as this is the first pole in the Swix lineup that utilizes a full hand strap as opposed to a loop strap. For younger athletes, we recommend going with a basic pole like the Quantum 5 Jr pole. Each pole page has an accurate sizing chart based on athlete height for easy pole selection! Racing athletes can reach out directly for more details on specifics between higher-end pole models.
We strongly recommend an intermediate-level combi boot for all Momentum Northwest athletes as they see a big jump in both fit adjustment and overall skiing-specific performance. The Salomon Pro Combi Prolink is compatible with all NNN, Turnamic, and Prolink style bindings while also offering the most adjustment for a boot at its price point. The toe of the boot offers flex for classic skiing and optimal snow feel while the sole offers torsional stiffness for a responsive skating platform.
For younger athletes and smaller sizes, we recommend the Salomon S/Race Skiathlon Prolink Jr which is built on a very similar platform.
